This Week in “Bicycle”

If you haven’t made any plans this week, there are a few things on the Dayton cycling¬† to do list:

On Monday, the City of Dayton is holding a public involvement meeting at the
Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission Center for Regional Cooperation, 1000 West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45402
The meeting starts at 4pm and will be your chance to hear more and provide comments about the proposed East Fifth Street/ Hamilton Avenue Bikeway, the Broadway Street Bikeway, the East Fifth Street Bike Ramps, the Keowee Street/ Helena Street Bikeway, and the Eastern Hills Bikeway.

On Tuesday, Courteous Mass Dayton and Bike Miami Valley will join the Artemis Center, a local domestic violence shelter, on Living Dayton. We will talk a little about cycling in Dayton and, more importantly, about Dayton Girls Gone Riding, a women only ride on September 14thr, hosted by the Artemis Center.
While we are at it, if you want to join our group on the ride, Courteous Mass Dayton and Bike Miami Valley are more than happy to have you in the Women of BMV Group.

On Wednesday, Peace on Fifth, on 508 Fifth Street, is hosting the Peace Ride. The ride starts at 6pm, all are welcome, a shorter route for kids is available. For more info check out the Facebook event and the Dayton Local announcement.

Tour de Dayton 2013

Next Saturday, August 17th, 2013, it’s time for the third annual Tour de Dayton, a free cycling event with the goal to make Dayton a more active, bicycle friendly city while promoting diverse neighborhoods.

This years route starts at the Welcome Stadium, participants can pre-register here, or sign up the day of the event, starting 9am. The Tour will lead through south-west Dayton, including Carillon, Miami Chapel, Egdemont, Madden Hills, Lakeview, Pineview, and Highview Hills. The map can be found here.
If you don’t have anyone to tag along, feel free to join us, we leave from the Welcome Stadium at 10 am, to give everybody time to sign up, though we do recommend that everybody pre-registers.
